I recalled a piece I wrote in this column on January 29, 2009, just after Obama took office. It was headlined: “This is the sub-prime house that Barack Obama built”. As a rising young Chicago politician in 1995, no one campaigned more actively than Mr Obama for an amendment to the US Community Reinvestment Act, legally requiring banks to lend huge sums to millions of poor, mainly black Americans, guaranteed by the two giant mortgage associations, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

It was this Act, above all, which let the US housing bubble blow up, far beyond the point where it was obvious that hundreds of thousands of homeowners would be likely to default. Yet, in 2005, no one more actively opposed moves to halt these reckless guarantees than Senator Obama, who received more donations from Fannie Mae than any other US politician (although Senator Hillary Clinton ran him close).

If Romney beats Obama she is immediately irrelevant. Her entire purpose at this point is to throw bombs at a liberal President with whom she is obviously linked through her 2008 VP run. Not only would there be no one left in power for her to be the brunette Ann Coulter against, but her chapter of American history also becomes instantly ancient.

 

Even worse than that, unless she decides to go completely rogue and humiliate herself by being Romney’s primary opponent in 2016, she would have no, even theoretical, next political act until 2020 at the very earliest. That will not be nearly enough to sustain her career as a commentator/speaker/author at anything near its current levels.

“In the debate the other day, Mitt Romney (made) the claim that he never did business with the government, which is absolutely false,” Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) said in a conference call with reporters Friday. “In fact, Mitt Romney served on the board and personally pocketed $500,000 from the Damon Corp., a company that was fraudulently bilking Medicare out of millions of dollars.”

Bain Capital bought Damon Corp. in 1989, when Romney was at its head. The firm in 1996 agreed to pay a $116 million fine after pleading guilty to overbilling Medicare from 1988 through 1993, according to PolitiFact. Romney was never charged with wrongdoing.

Rumor has it that Kerry challenged Obama to see who could hold their nose higher in the air the longest and… well, Obama obviously has had the most practice from recent campaigning while lording over the sheep and won easily while Kerry fell and smashed himself.

Kerry, ever the athlete, wasn’t permanently wounded, at least not on the outside and noted that Barack has almost mastered Michelle Obama’s flawless technique that Queen Elizabeth had taught her during one of her junkets-de-la-masses.

Sen. John Kerry may have startled some onlookers at the White House on Monday, as he showed up with two black eyes and a broken nose.

“In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction.”

In other words, the Judge in the Arizona case has absolutely no Constitutional jurisdiction over the matter upon which she ruled. As the Constitution makes abundantly clear, only the U.S. Supreme Court can issue rulings that involve a state.

This means that neither Judge Bolton nor the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, to which the case is being appealed, have any legal standing whatsoever to rule on the issue.

Thus, U.S. Attorney-General Eric Holder filed the federal government’s lawsuit against the state of Arizona in a court that has no authority to hear the case.

Giuliani completed the hat trick Thursday morning, telling “Fox and Friends” that he was “shocked” by Gingrich and Perry.

“I’m outraged. … it’s ignorant, dumb. It’s building something we should be fighting in America — ignorance of the economic system,” Giuliani said. “What the hell are you doing, Newt?”

It was just a few weeks ago that Giuliani laced into Romney as a flip-flopper and had kind words for Gingrich. In Thursday’s interview, he described Romney as the candidate he was least likely to endorse, but condemned the Bain slams.
